Rehabbers/flippers provide a great service to the real estate industry. Many times they can take a distressed situation and make it a very positive one. They do that by helping individual homeowners out of financially impossible situations or by taking over bank-owned properties. Then, many times, they take the worst property in an area and make it shine as well or better than its neighbors.
I personally have worked on condos that were arguably the worst units in a complex and made them the best. When that happens, fellow association shareholders benefit from our ability to dramatically turn around a condo unit.
